Walt Disney was a genius. With that being said, I HATE THE DISNEY EMPIRE. I spent my honeymoon in Florida, and went to 3 of the Disney theme parks. I found out I was being laid off in one of them. So, that doesn't bode well for the company.
First of all, they have 2 theme parks in one area. Since Disney has all these "lands" in Disneyland, they should have Disney California Land, and not charge everyone another $20 to go across the way. But I am getting ahead of myself.
Goofy's Kitchen - Ok, Nick was on my side for this one. I don't know if it is because he really doesn't understand money, or he does. I walk to the attendant and say, I need 2 adults and 1 child. She calmly says, that will be $82. My son's draw hit the floor. I made a promise to Sheila that I wouldn't over react at the Disney prices. My son did me proud. Let me break it down. Each adult, $28 ish, each kid, $14 ish. Ok, so, you did the math, that is $70. Well, you forgot tax and gratuity. You get to pay a gratuity on a buffet meal.
Ok, for those who don't understand the purpose of a gratuity, it is what you pay someone who was gracious and helped make it a better ordeal for you. A restaurant, where the waiter makes sure your cup never empties, and your food arrives warm gets a gratuity, because he earned it. Starbucks doesn't earn your gratuity, you pay for your tip when you pay $4 for a coffee that costs less than $1 to make.
Therefore, I don't believe in buffet gratuities.
Here is how they earn their money at a buffet. The characters come to your table. The gratuity was worth it to watch the Jasmine character make an 11 year old boy (don't worry Nick, I won't tell them it was you) squirm in embarrassment when she asked him where his lovely princess was. That was a good 5 minutes of entertainment.
Also, if you have kids, tell them they can eat all the desert they can when there. You paid for it, it might as well happen. Though, it seems it is reverse psychology, as Nick only had a little desert.
Ok, I am tired. I am done talking about Disneyland for now. But who knows when I will get a second wind.
